1. Why don't you do your mail bid auctions anymore?

Perhaps the most popular of all questions received here at Quasar Comics! The simple answer is: This is a one man operation (with the sometimes help of my wife)!  I have a regular 8:00 - 5:00 job as an Information Security Officer here in Louisville and must squeeze this in to my "free" time.  My goal is to please all my customers and earn some money to help out my family.

The mail bid auctions took an enormous amount of time to prepare and so many people have moved to using the internet that I have found eBay to be the most effective way to bring auctions to you on a regular basis.

All current auctions being conducted via ebay!

2. Why should I consign comics to your auctions?

Well, there are many good reasons not too!  If you have the time and inclination to piece them out yourself, you should check out www.ebay.com, set-up at local comic book shows, place ads in Comic Buyers Guide, etc.  It is a lot of work but you may find it worth while!

On the other hand... I've been building up a good relationship with customers and fellow collectors with Quasar Comics since 1982.  I've been doing auctions since 1985.  I am willing to do the work to group your collection into reasonable lots of items and sell them for you!  So, you can, in effect, get rid of them all at once (if that is your desire) and I'll sell them nearly piece by piece for you.  Based on my experience selling consigned items as well as my own, you will, on average, consistently realize a higher price with my auction service than selling outright to a dealer, selling through ebay or selling them your self (unless you don't mind putting in the work to build up a business).

Of course, based on the first FAQ, above, you must have patience if you would like me to sell your comics and other related items.  If you are still interested, send me an e-mail (bruce @ quasarcomics.com - remove the spaces place there to minimize automated SPAM mail) or give me a call.  Let me know what you have that you would like to sell. If I think it has a reasonable chance of selling well in my auctions, and space is available, we can discuss a consignment to the next auction.

All of our auctions are currently conducted using eBay.

eBay Auctions

Quasar Comics accepts consignments of comics for its auctions on space available basis. Please call or write for details before sending any material. Auctions on eBay entail a lot of work as well as many "hideen" fees (eBay listing and final value fees, PayPal fees, etc.) Our commission rate for full service eBay auctions is 25% of the price realized, per lot, for the consignor. The commission can be as low as 10% plus all eBay related expenses and CGC grading expenses, if applicable, on high ticket items. No buyer's fee is ever charged. I do not charge you any hidden fees like photography or promotion fees, etc.  My goal is to be straight forward and direct, I don't want there to be any hidden surprises!

3. How can I find out what my comics are worth?

There are several options, the two I think are best I will discuss here:

1.  Check out all the comic auction on www.ebay.com. You will get a good idea of what your comics are truly worth (usually at the low end), since actual interested individuals are placing bids.

2.  Get a copy of Robert Overstreet's Comic Book Price Guide (see link with picture of guide i nthe left hand column). This guide lists most comics published and is a good source to get an idea of the retail price of a comic book.  There are also sections on grading and selling your comics.  Now, some people may disagree with some of the information presented within this guide but, as a one book source of information, it can't be beat!  You should be able to find a recent copy of the guide (it comes out once per year) at your local library, book store, or order a copy of the current edition and have it shipped to your door by clicking on the link in the left hand column.
